Open Panasonic GH5 AVCHD videos in Adobe Premiere Pro CC

This guide teaches you how to edit Panasonic Lumix DC-GH5 AVCHD videos in Adobe Premiere Pro CC on Mac OS X.

"I received several Panasonic GH5 AVCHD videos from my client and was asked to edit in Premiere CC. While the issue is that Premiere CC crashed once I imported the videos into its timeline. Do you have any methos for me to edit Panasonic GH5 AVCHD videos in Premiere Pro CC? I am in deadline. Thanks for any tips."

The GH5 can capture 4K videos in AVCHD, MP4, MOV format. Premiere Pro CC can (usually) handle 4K files without much problem, but it is extremely hardware intensive. Under such circumstance, we need to transcode Panasonic GH5 AVCHD to a more "edit" friendly codec with 1080p resolution.

What I used is Brorsoft MTS Converter for Mac which can freely convert Panasonic GH5 MTS files to Adobe Premiere (CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6 included) compatible format MPEG-2 without loosing quality. With it, users also can encode MTS videos into FCP, iMovie, Avid optimized codec like Apple ProRes, AIC, DNxHD and more. If you are a PC user, then Brorsoft MTS Converter windows version is designed for you. Now, download the software on computer and follow the guide below to start conversion.

Workflow: editing Panasonic GH5 MTS videos in Premiere

One: Set up the MTS to Premiere Pro converter and click the "Add" button to import the Panasonic GH5 MTS footage.

Two: Click "Format" drop-down bar to select a proper video format. To edit AVCHD videos in Adobe Premiere, then Adobe Premiere/Sony Vegas > MPEG-2 (*.mpg) is the suitable one.

Tip: In"Settings" page, you will enter the following interface, on which you are allowed to customize size, bit rate, frame rate, sample rate, and audio channel to your required ones. For smooth editing, you can have a try to downscale 4K videos to 1080p in "Video Size" column.

Three: Hit the big Convert button to start Panasonic GH5 MTS to Adobe Premiere Pro conversion immediately. After conversion, you can get the generated MTS videos via "Open" Panel. Now, it is much easy for you to transferPanasonic GH5 MTS videos to Adobe Premiere Pro CC.
